I shot a portrait of Jerry Rice, the greatest ever NFL wide receiver, and he was kind enough to show me some of his moves. |

The Kids Are Alright!
NYC kids definitely have the cool factor. When I got to Tribeca last May, there were a lot of kids in that area and I was fascinated by the way they looked, walked, sat with their parents at restaurants, hung out with their friends and wore their hair. So stylish in such a nonchalant way.
Fascinating how the styles of Parisian and Milanese kids are so different from those in Miami, LA, and SF and NY.
When I was in Paris last winter, a teenage boy told me how cool "le style New York" was and how he and his friends tried to get that look.
I guess people always want the other thing.
Spending time in NY has affected the way I shoot....more spontaneous and authentic...less perfect...more fun! It was good for me.
Up next for me is Iceland! I'm not sure what their style is.

I want a Barbie
Last week in NY I shot a great model (Chloe/Generation Model Management). She was focused and worked hard all day long.
By the end of the day, she was starting to not listen to me anymore and I needed her to pull it together so we could finish.
I went up to her and took her by the shoulders and said "You can do this Chloe!"
Then I softened my voice (after all, she was only 5 years old) and said "Maybe you need a little reward. Would you like a chocolate?"
She looked at me for a long time and without blinking said, "I want a Barbie."
I burst out laughing!
Her mom later told me I should have been grateful she didn't ask for a ticket to Hong Kong!
This is one kid who is going places.
